Day 1 & 2

Finding the time to write with 3 small kids can be challenging, so I might get behind on my days at times.

Day 1
The first day for me was easy. I had my green tea, oatmeal with blueberries and almonds for breakfast. I took an hour hike with my family right after breakfast. Then my snacks consisted of almonds, Go Rounds, grapes and a salad. I had my Sqware Meals with water for one of my snacks as well. My lunch was a salad with pork, avocado, peppers etc. It was delightful. I felt good all day until dinnertime. I got a killer headache right before I was serving up the salmon, asparagus and potatoes. Apparently, removing the excess sugar and regular glasses of wine at night too my body by surprise.

This headache lasted through the night. I did have to cave and take a Tylenol. It is not normal for me to have a headache like that. Of course, first thought always goes to COVID. Then, it was obvious. I have had high amounts of sugar in my diet over the past couple months. Whether it be lack of sleep, stress or whatever, I have had uncontrollable sugar urges. I did not feed those urges on Day 1 and I believe that was my bodies reaction. I guess this is step #1 in the detox process.

Sleep was better. I have a 20 month old who does not sleep well. He usually gets up at 3AM or earlier and once I get him back to sleep, I can't fall asleep myself. Sleep on Day 1 was better. He woke up at 4:30AM, I was able to sleep up until that time and fall asleep soon after as well. I'll take that as a win!

Day 2

I woke up not feeling bloated. I have felt bloated for as long as I can remember. I felt lighter and I was. My goal with this is not weight loss, although I know having my clothes fit more comfortably is a benefit. I am gauging my weight during the process because that is one tangible way to track progress. Anyway, down from 139 to 137. I know I have shocked my system by removing sugar and I drank less water then I usually do, but it is a sign that I am taking the right steps.

I made an egg, spinach, avocado with tomato omelet. My kids enjoyed a healthier breakfast as well. That seems to come natural when you start taking care of yourself. Snack was almonds and grapes, followed by a Sqware Meals lunch with banana and almonds, with almond milk. I then had a Go Round for snack. Dinner was a burger over an avocado salad, topped with hummus...delightful.

My mood was steady and energy was high both days. I plan to add fresh celery juice and track my water tomorrow. Until then, praying for a good nights sleep.
